Ever since their rebuild earlier in 2025, I have been hanging out to visit the new Linesman No.3 Huts in Kosciuszko National Park. Not only are these two little huts super cute, but they have some of the best sweeping views of the Jagungal Wilderness and Mount Jagungal in particular.

Linesman No.3 Huts are only a couple of Kilometres from Tooma Road and there is a small car park at the turning onto Happy Jacks Road. This means the huts, albeit hidden, are easily accessible by foot. They sit in an exposed, grassy location, on 15 mile ridge and offer emergency shelter from wild weather.

Inside both huts is a single bunk, a chair and a small wood burning stove. As with all the historic huts in the Kosciuszko National Park, these two are for emergency use only, and even if you just look around it’d be kind to sweep up after yourself (above photos: left – flat roof hut, right – pitched roof hut).
It’s possible to visit these huts as part of a longer hike, or bikepacking trip, and there are many other huts nearby to include in your visit. Some of my favourites nearby are Derschkos, Round Mountain Hut and Happys Hut.
Let me know if you visit these huts as I’d love to see your photos @mattiejgould
It’s worth noting that there is no toilet or water at the huts, so you will need to pack it all in, and pack it all out again!!
