Mont Warmlite Sit Mat

I’m a big fan of bringing a sit pad on hiking and biking adventures so it’s cool to see local Canberra outdoor brand Mont releasing their own version.

Weighing in at just 50g, the Mont Warmlite Sit Mat is a closed cell foam, accordion style mat that’s about the size of a nalgene. I’ve been carrying a sit pad on most hiking and biking adventures lately and I’ve come to appreciate the added comfort around camp.

My favourite use for the sit pad, however, is as a door mat for my tent. It’s great for keeping dirt and grass out and makes getting in and out of the tent heaps easier and less of a juggle when taking shoes on and off.

As the name suggests, Mont’s Warmlite mat has an aluminised thermal film to reflect body heat, which helps when sitting on the cold floor or rocks. At night, I like to put the mat at the bottom of my sleeping pad for when my toes inevitably dangle off the end as I slide about while sleeping.

in addition to the sit mat, Mont has also just released the Warmlite R2.2 sleeping mat – essentially a longer and wider version of the sit mat. I’m looking forward to taking the sleeping mat out on my next camping trip.
